This is a beautiful illustration. I love the space around him, those chains really make me feel like I was staring into infinity, while the abstract pattern adds a nice dreamlike atmosphere. I love the colors, the angle and that cross in his hand
It's always so wonderful to see art that offer insight to the character's more complex personality, and it's always wonderful to see it explored in Zoisite since on the surface he can seem very vain and shallow, but is much more complex deep down.
Thank you for such a wonderful comment ^^ Yes, this is the moment that Zoisite gets his memories back. The external atmosphere implies Zoi's internal shock, and chains twining around him is a symbol of connection between him and his fate (base on the story)... It's too abstract, but I'm sooooo happy you seize it !!
The best thing I love about this picture is that Zoisite doesn't look necessarily sad. Every time I've seen chains in a picture the person who is being chained always seem depressed and sad (and that makes sense of course!) but it's nice to see that Zoisite - as a soldier in two different lives - despite his beauty and his doting and his at times, immaturity - deep down is still a capable general. While he might be in shock, I just love how you've captured his essence with his expression - Zoi didn't get to be who he is being a wimp all the time, and now that the going gets tough, he accepts it with utter solemnness!
Yes~ Zoi is more than just shocked. The moment he got his memory back, he is ready to accept the truth and assume his responsibility. Somehow I worried whether I express it well or not. I'm so happy that you capture every details I tried to express (and I love your choice of words)^^
